Profit margin calculator

Compare cost and selling price in the same currency. Input stays on this device while you use the tool.

Use the same currency for both values. Include any fees or overhead you want reflected in the cost.

Profit = price − cost. Margin = profit ÷ price × 100. Markup = profit ÷ cost × 100; markup is undefined when cost is zero.

Know the limits

What this result does—and does not—cover.

The tool is designed for a focused browser task. Keep these boundaries in mind when you use the output.
  • The calculation does not add taxes, payment fees, shipping, discounts, or overhead unless you include them in the cost.
  • Both values must use the same currency; the tool does not perform currency conversion.
  • Results are arithmetic estimates, not accounting, tax, or pricing advice.
  • A zero cost has no defined markup, although profit and margin can still be calculated.

Talk to our team
What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit divided by selling price. Markup is profit divided by cost. They describe the same sale from different starting points.

Can the calculator show a loss?

Yes. If the selling price is lower than the cost, profit, margin, and markup are shown as negative values.

Which currency should I use?

You can use any currency as long as cost and selling price use the same one. The result keeps the same unit without adding a currency symbol.

Are my numbers sent to Harmita?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, and the values are not submitted to Harmita.
