Know the limits

What this result does—and does not—cover.

The tool is designed for a focused browser task. Keep these boundaries in mind when you use the output.
  • Base64 is an encoding format, not encryption, and should not be used to protect secrets.
  • This tool supports UTF-8 text, not uploaded files or arbitrary binary data.
  • The decoder accepts the standard Base64 alphabet. URL-safe Base64 using - or _ is not supported.
  • Very large values are capped to keep the browser responsive.

Questions, answered

Questions about the base64 text converter.

Privacy, calculation details, and common input questions.
Talk to our team
Is Base64 secure or encrypted?

No. Anyone can decode Base64. Use proper encryption and access controls for confidential information.

Can I encode Hindi or other Unicode text?

Yes. The encoder converts Unicode text to UTF-8 before creating the Base64 value.

Why does some Base64 fail to decode?

The value may contain invalid characters, represent binary data rather than UTF-8 text, or use the URL-safe Base64 alphabet.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Encoding and decoding happen in your browser, and the tool does not submit the input to Harmita.
