Runs in your browser

JSON formatter

Validate, format, or compact a JSON document. Input stays on this device while you use the tool.

Standard JSON only, up to 2,00,000 characters.

Numbers use JavaScript numeric precision. This checks syntax, not a custom JSON schema.

How to use it

Get a useful json formatter result.

Three straightforward steps are enough to get started.
  1. 1

    Paste a JSON value, object, or array into the input.

  2. 2

    Choose Format JSON for readable indentation or Compact JSON for a single-line result.

  3. 3

    Review and copy the validated output, or reset the workspace to remove it.

Worked example

Input

{"name":"Harmita","services":["Web","SEO"]}

Result

{
  "name": "Harmita",
  "services": [
    "Web",
    "SEO"
  ]
}

Know the limits

What this result does—and does not—cover.

The tool is designed for a focused browser task. Keep these boundaries in mind when you use the output.
  • Input must use strict JSON syntax: double-quoted property names, no comments, and no trailing commas.
  • The tool checks JSON syntax, not whether the data matches a particular API schema.
  • Very large or deeply nested documents may be better handled in a local code editor.
  • Numbers use JavaScript numeric precision, so unusually large integers can lose precision.

Talk to our team
Does the JSON formatter send data to a server?

No. Formatting, validation, and compaction happen in your browser. The JSON you enter is not submitted to Harmita.

Does this tool validate a JSON schema?

No. It validates JSON syntax only. It does not check required fields, data types, or rules from a JSON Schema document.

Why are comments or trailing commas rejected?

They are not part of the standard JSON format. Remove comments and the final comma in an object or array before formatting.

Can I compact formatted JSON?

Yes. Paste the JSON and choose Compact JSON to produce a single-line result.
